Sesame crusted cauliflower steak

Sesame crusted cauliflower steak

Ingredients

serves 2
  • 1 cauliflower
  • 80ml almond milk
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 3 tbsp sesame seeds
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp groundnut oil
  • Juice 1 lime
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp hoisin sauce
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Handful fresh coriander, chopped

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a large baking tray. Drizzle with 1 tbsp oil.
  2. Cut the cauliflower vertically into 4 slices and take centre slices.
  3. In a dish large enough to place the cauliflower, mix the breadcrumbs, sesame seed and chilli powder. In another dish, add the almond milk, then place the cauliflower in the milk until coated on both sides. Transfer to the breadcrumb mixture until coated on all sides. Place on the baking tray then repeat with the other cauliflower slice.
  4. Drizzle again with oil and bake for 40 minutes, until browned and soft inside.
  5. To make the sauce, in a small bowl, combine the lime juice, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic and coriander and mix well. Pour on top of the cauliflower steaks and serve.
