Candied orange peel
Ingredients
serves 1 cake decoration
- 1 orange
- 100g caster sugar
Directions
- Peel the orange in strips and cut into desired shape. Remove as much white pith as possible.
- Blanch the strips by covering them in cold water then bring to boil. Drain and rinse.
- In a small pan, whisk together the sugar and 100ml water. Place the peels in the mixture. Bring it to a boil and then simmer until the peels become translucent.
- Roll in white sugar if desired. Allow to dry out for a few hours or overnight before decorating.
