Sourdough Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
makes 1 cake
- 150g self-raising flour
- 25g cocoa powder
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 120g caster sugar
- 120g discarded starter straight from the fridge
- 120ml cold water
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 80ml vegetable oil
- 3 tbsp aquafaba
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease and line a cake tin or loaf tin.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt and sugar.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the starter, water, vinegar, vanilla extract, oil and aquafaba. Add the dry ingredients to the wet, and stir until combined.
- Pour the batter into the tin and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
